Process

Below is my process from one of my most recent shots I have been working on.

Current Iteration

This is the current version of the shot, at the moment, I am working on making the male character's facial expressions and lip sync.

Reference/Choosing Audio

I decided to go with this audio choice because it felt like there was a lot of energy in the voice. I was excited to make it different from where the audio was derived. For reference, I went through many camera angles and actions. With help from my mentor, I was able to find the right camera angle and performance. The angle chosen shows off both characters in the shot for an easier focus.

Scene Layout

The scene is meant to be a date between two characters, but the male character is tired of how the date has been going. During the date, he gets upset and decides to leave. I set up the scene close to my reference and added small decor to make it aid the dinner date atmosphere.

Blocking

After going through many versions of blocking, this is what I landed on that conveys the actions and the ideas behind the characters.

Blocking +, Rough Lip Sync

Cleaning up the male character more and helping his arcs and movements feel smoother in this pass. I also added some rough lip sync, and it helped make the shot feel more alive.

Lip Sync, Female Character Blocking

The focus on this pass was editing the female character's movement. She's now reacting more to his actions and dialogue. I also altered the ending to see more of her response to what just happened.
